Privacy Policy

Overview

MyIP ("the extension") is a Chrome browser extension that displays your public and private IP addresses, geolocation data, ISP information, and security analysis. This policy explains what data is accessed, where it goes, and what we store.

We are committed to your privacy. We do not track your browsing, sell your data, or collect any information beyond what is strictly necessary to run the extension.

๐ŸŒ
IP Address Lookups via Third-Party APIs

To display your IP address and related network information, the extension makes requests to the following external APIs. Your IP address is sent to these services as part of the lookup โ€” this is technically unavoidable since that is the data being retrieved.

These services have their own privacy policies. We do not control how they handle the requests made to them. We recommend reviewing their policies if you have concerns.

๐Ÿ’พ
IP History โ€” Stored Locally Only
Your IP history never leaves your device. The extension stores a log of your IP address changes in chrome.storage.local, which is sandboxed to your browser profile on your own machine. This data is not transmitted to any server โ€” not to us, not to any third party.

The history log is capped at 200 entries and can be cleared at any time by removing the extension or clearing your browser's extension storage. We have no access to it.

๐Ÿšซ
No Data Sold or Shared

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share any personal data with third parties for marketing, advertising, or any other commercial purpose.

The only third-party communication that occurs is the API lookups listed above, which are initiated by you opening the extension popup. No background telemetry or analytics are collected.

License Key & Email

If you purchase a Pro license, your email address and license key are stored in our database (hosted on Supabase) solely for the purpose of verifying your license and delivering access to Pro features.

What we store: your email address, license key, purchase date, activation count, and order ID (from your payment processor).

What we do not store: payment card details, passwords, or any other personal information. Payment is handled entirely by our payment processor (Gumroad).

Your email is not used for marketing. It is only used to send your license key upon purchase and, if needed, to respond to support requests you initiate.

Chrome Permissions Explained

The extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

No access to your browsing history, tabs, cookies, or any other sensitive browser data is requested or used.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
